Smart Card Technology
Read/write contactless
The supplier's 13.56 MHz read/write contactless smart card technology was designed to make access control more powerful, versatile and secure. The contactless smart credentials include cards, tags and keys and are available in 2k bits or 16k bits configuration. IClass can be combined with proximity, Wiegand, mag stripe, or barcode to help support existing systems, and it may be customized for use as a photo ID credential. The smart card technology provides storage for biometric templates and/or PINs on a contactless card and provides secure read/writing of data through mutual authentication and encryption.

ID Card Laminates
With Optically Variable Devices (OVDs)
Laminates contain digitally produced optically variable devices (OVDs) that help detect fraud and alteration attempts. A custom OVD combines complex line details and wave patterns. Custom holograms and ultraviolet, infrared or color-shift inks can be added to the pattern for greater card security. A second option enables card issuers to embed covert laser-retrievable text into the laminate. Text can be revealed using a standard red laser pen. A third option incorporates SecureText 3200 DPI microtext and pixel encryption technology from Pacific Holographics Inc., which adds security features that are only visible under 200x magnification.

Contactless Smart Card Reader
iCLASS-compatible
The 3.5-pound reader can decode iCLASS access cards, biometric templates that may be stored on the cards, and two-dimmensional bar codes affixed to the cards' surface, while simultaneously matching a live fingerprint or other biometric to the stored template for one-to-one identity verification. The reader can be configured to operate with HID's proximity card technology, providing a portable decoding product. The reader can read contact and contactless smart chips, 2D bar codes and optical character recognition data. The basic unit incorporates a 600 dpi color scanner, a built-in color LCD display, a contact smart card reader, an optical fingerprint scanner and a PCMCIA slot that can be used for radio frequency ID cards.
Features: can be used as a standalone, off-line device, eliminating the need for an external database; or as part of a PC-based solution using serial, USB and PCMCIA interfaces.

RFID Reader
Recognizes standard communications protocols
Intelligent network reader has expanded antenna options, reducing the number of readers needed to cover a designated area. Wireless connectivity and expanded communication ports help reduce implementation costs. The reader uses a Mercury 4 platform from Cambridge, Mass.-based Thing Magic LLC, which is based on Intel's IPX420 XScale network processor.
Features: available in five configurations, supporting 915 MHz (UHF) and 13.56 (HF) with varying antenna port options.
