Bus Beating Prompts School's Call For CCTV

Duval County (Fla.) Schools Superintendent John Fryer wants CCTV security cameras installed on all school buses after several Landon Middle School students beat another student on a school bus.
The upgrades will cost at least $500,000, The Florida Times-Union reports.
In the Feb. 4 incident in Jacksonville, a boy was pummeled by one student, then others, for about 30 seconds. Seven students have been suspended pending a school board investigation and a hearing. The beating was captured on video by a bus security camera.
Cameras on every school bus would offer proof of what really happened should a situation occur on a bus, Fryer said. Each camera would cost $500 to $900, plus the cost of installation, according to David Solomon, the school system's director of transportation.
