Study Finds Most N.C. Businesses Have Disaster Plans

Fewer than one in five North Carolina businesses surveyed by AT&T for an annual study have no disaster recovery or continuity plan, and about three-quarters consider business continuity planning a priority.
According to The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area, the annual AT&T Business Continuity Study surveyed 100 IT executives in Greensboro, Charlotte and Raleigh at firms with at least $10 million in revenue.
One-quarter of the survey respondents said that disaster planning has become a bigger priority for them in recent years due to natural disasters, security and terrorism threats.
While most companies have disaster plans, fewer test them and keep them regularly updated, according to John Craft, AT&T’s vice president of Enterprise Business Sales in North Carolina.
“A business continuity plan is not enough and in fact, not all companies have one in place,” Craft told the Business Journal. “Organizations must regularly test and update their plans to reflect changes in their business
