Making security systems easier to use was a big theme at this year's ASIS show (Sept. 25-27 in San Diego), and several suppliers introduced products whose goal is to tie together disparate systems into a manageable whole. There was also an abundance of “neat” gadgets — the pieces and parts that are the functioning components of a tied-together system (a.k.a., edge devices). Here is a sampling of ASIS-announced products. Look in our New Products section in the next few months for more.
Color Network PTZ Dome Camera

Navigation For Firefighters
KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT IN EMERGENCIES
Notifier's ONYX FirstVision is a navigational tool for firefighters and other emergency responders. Using a PC-based touch screen, emergency responders can gather the information needed to pinpoint the source of a fire and calculate the rate at which it is spreading, in what direction and how fast. Firefighters can then quickly locate and extinguish the fire, thus reducing property loss and saving lives. On a 17-in. wall-mounted monitor, FirstVision displays floor plans and the locations of active alarm devices, potential hazards, access and egress routes as well as standpipe, stairway and emergency shutoff locations within a building. With the navigation system, firefighters are able to identify dangerous situations and hazards before they enter the structure. www.notifier.com

Security and Event Management System
CREATES A CUSTOMIZED COMMAND-AND-CONTROL CENTER
Tyco Fire and Security's Software House C-CURE 9000 is a security and event management system that integrates Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 technology. The system works off a user interface similar to those of Microsoft Outlook and Windows Explorer. Users can “drag and drop” any integrated application onto one monitoring station, thus creating a consolidated command-and-control center. The system provides a tailored display of activities and screens, graphical maps to virtually control security objects and the ability to “drag and drop” cameras into the interface for video integration. Microsoft .NET supports the integration of multiple programming languages, includes technology to make those applications more reliable and offers a higher degree of manageability and security. www.swhouse.com

Multi-Screen Video/Data Wall Controller
WATCH REAL-TIME DISPLAY OF INPUTS
The RGB Spectrum Watchdog multi-screen video/data wall processor is designed for security control rooms, emergency operations centers and mobile command posts. The panel is based on high-performance architecture, which offers flexibility in display and more security than PC-based systems.
