Zareba Systems Inc., Minneapolis, has announced that its electronic perimeter security fence products will be installed at federal prisons in the United States.

The project is a result of the Federal Bureau of Prisons' award of a contract to SIGCOM-GDI Fencing Solutions LLC of Greensboro, N.C., distributor of the Zareba products developed for use in the federal prison project.

The electronic perimeter security fence product for prison use is a new product developed by Zareba Systems in cooperation with GDI, Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., during the past two years.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has also chosen the FriskerPRO series of hand-worn metal detectors from Paradigm Tactical Products, Georgetown, Mass. The units have been deployed in more than 90 federal prisons in the United States.

The technology, developed by former members of the law enforcement community, is designed to be worn on the palm of the hand — leaving the user's hands free to draw their service weapon or defend themselves.
