HERE ARE SOME CONVERGENCE TRENDS CULLED FROM A SURVEY OF TOP SECURITY AND IT PROFESSIONALS AT BIG GLOBAL COMPANIES….

63% of security and IT organizations “[have] a formal coordination mechanism.”

10% of organizations say that physical and information security functions run as a single entity.

7% of respondents believe that vulnerability in either the physical or IT security system can lead to a breach in the other system.

91% of respondents show an increase in security investment; two-thirds see investment increasing by 8%; 31% suggest an investment increase of greater than 12%.

33% of respondents envision convergence happening in their organizations in the next two to five years; another third say it will never happen because of issues such as turf control, budget conflicts or lack of technical platforms.
