ArcSight, Sunnyvale, Calif., has released the ArcSight Console, a graphical user interface for security infrastructures. The console provides users real-time filtering and data display options, and access to both operational and administrative functions. Capabilities include drill-down from the highest level to the lowest level, an extensible viewer architecture for customized views of security events in various formats such as tables, charts or maps, and data mapping zones which can be organized on any field in the security event. Filters are also available to select or deselect zones in real-time to highlight events within desired parameters, or date/time ranges.

Panasonic, Secaucus, N.J., has introduced Myeyecam.com, an optional subscription service for communications and video security via web access. The stand-alone network camera lets users remotely view live images from a network-connected PC, or over the Internet. The camera requires no direct PC connection and can be placed wherever there is an Ethernet connection and power source. The camera has a frame rate of 15 to 7.5 frames-per-second with an approximately 80 frames image buffer including time display, digital input and output. The camera can be programmed to e-mail images to users at designated intervals. The network camera can be mounted on a wall, ceiling or tripod.

BioID America, Raleigh, N.C., announces its face-recognition module, used to monitor regular traffic from live video streams and simultaneously match faces with a large database. System can find a face from streaming video in 20 milliseconds, and can be used as an alert system to notify security personnel of known suspects. Coupled with the supplier's SDK 3.0 biometric technology, the system can be used for both authentication and surveillance solutions.

LG Electronics, Las Vegas, has introduced Iris Access 3000, a biometrics security system that captures and processes eye recognition in less than one second by using illuminated infrared light. The product's identification process does not interfere with contact lenses or eyeglasses and can be used from a distance of 3- to 10-ins. Components of the system include the supplier's Enrollment Optical Unit, Remote Optical Unit, Identification Control Unit, Frame Grabber Board, Door Interface Board and the Super Server PC.

International Fiber Systems Inc., Newtown, Conn., has released its full-duplex digital single-channel data modem with a self-healing ring feature that allows for uninterrupted data communication between network devices. The modem conforms to the supplier's RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 data protocol standards and provides fault-tolerant data communication in an optical ring or circular network. Incorporating a series of modems along two fiber optic cables, users can control and monitor all devices in that network. Network diagnostic front panel indicators allow for monitoring without data being transmitted. Data is regenerated, repeated and re-clocked within each modem.

Lenel Systems Intl. Inc., Rochester, N.Y., has introduced the OnGuard Enterprise System for Microsoft Windows NT Server, a multi-server synchronized database solution designed for enterprises that have multiple facilities across geographic locations. At periodic intervals, each of the regional servers performs a synchronization process with the Enterprise server through Wide Area Network communications. All access control field and event information, as well as updated cardholder information, is uploaded to the Enterprise server. The server then distributes any changes in information received. The system's interfacing capabilities allow bi-directional communication with third party databases.

HID Corp., Irvine, Calif., announces its pcProx desktop reader, which recognizes card formats up to 64 bits with unique codes. The reader has a transmittal frequency of 125 kHz, and a 5.0 V power supply supplied by a PS2 keyboard connector. Typical maximum read range is 1- to 3-in., with an LED indicator. Reader extends the functionality of existing proximity systems when implementing additional applications.

NexWatch, Fremont, Calif., has released its Pro-Watch access control software suite, available in three versions — Pro-Watch Professional, Corporate and Enterprise. The supplier's Professional edition, designed for small to mid-size applications, does not require a server-based operating system. The software accommodates one to five users, and up to 64 doors.

The corporate edition targets larger applications with five or more users and more than 64 entrances. The Enterprise application incorporates regional server architecture for global environments, as the server maintains system information via synchronization with each regional site. All three versions provide customizable alarm pages, toolbars and keyboard accelerators.

BorderWare Technologies, Toronto, Canada, has announced its launch of the BorderWare Firewall Server 6.5. The firewall server delivers secure, Internet connectivity, IPSec VPN and other Internet services. The server has an enhanced RAID, Gigabit Ethernet and up to six network interfaces. The buffer and stack overflow protection provides protection against buffer overflow attacks. The server's HHTP filter protects against Code Red and similar worms, and includes a signature update mechanism.

Caveo Technology, Cambridge, Mass., introduces Caveo Anti-Theft, an integrated security solution for laptop computers in the form of a PC Card.

The lock deters theft by detecting motion and issuing audible warning signals. In an armed computer is moved beyond a distance specified by the user, the system shuts down the computer and sounds an optional, audible alarm. The lock has an integral encryption option, providing secure storage off the hard drive. The system is independent of the computer and uses motion password technology to arm and disarm the computer.

Lockstep Systems Inc., Phoenix, has released WebAgain 2.5, an updated version of the supplier's software that repairs hacked Web sites. WebAgain protects Web site content by detecting unauthorized changes to the site's content and restores the original content without physical intervention. The updated version supports an increased amount of FTP servers and accommodates unlimited sub Webs. The version 2.5 software also supports Japanese language translation.

Zone Labs Inc., San Francisco, has released ZoneAlarm Pro 3.0 and ZoneAlarm 3.0, updated versions of the supplier's personal firewall products. ZoneAlarm Pro features online privacy protection including ad blocking, cookie control capabilities and LAN support. Once a user gives an application permission to access the Internet, both products fingerprint all components of the application, as well as the application itself.
