HID Corp., Irvine, Calif., has introduced the IQCard series of smart cards. The IQCard series are MIFARE compliant and are equipped with securely separated files, mutual authentication, data encryption and electronic purse functions. The IQCard MIFARE product features 13.56 MHz operating frequency, 10-cm read-range, transaction time of less than 100 ms, and 1Kbyte memory. The IQCard Combo include these properties as well as 125Khz operating frequency, permitting interoperability with all existing HID readers, which allow users to employ Combo cards as they would proximity cards. The card has options that include external numbering, slot punch and custom graphics.

NEC Technologies, Itasca, Ill., has introduced TouchPass 2.0, a biometric finger-imaging network security solution that replaces the password. Offering secure LAN, WAN and dial-up network access, TouchPass 2.0 converts finger images into mathematical algorithms which are stored for user purposes. TouchPass is an enterprise-wide computer log-on security system. By capturing a finger image, TouchPass can permit or deny access to workstations and networks. TouchPass consists of server software, user manager program, client software and the TouchPass scanner.

Axcess Inc., Dallas, has released Plex Antennas, a new family of activation antennas for asset management, personnel tracking and vehicle access control. In an asset-containment application, a ceiling-mounted Plex antenna is used to prevent unauthorized removal of computers from a training center. The Plex Antenna is comprised of a loop of wire embedded between two thin pieces of Plexiglas than can be painted over if desired. The antenna can be mountedon walls, ceilings or posts in indoor or outdoor applications.

Agnitum Ltd., Nicosia, Cyprus, has released a new version of its anti-Trojan application, Tauscan. The latest upgrade has been designated “Tauscan v1.5” and is free to registered users of previous versions. Tauscan is a universal Trojan Horse scanner that can detect and remove almost 1,800 Trojan Horse viruses that may have infected a user's system. The latest upgrade features a new extraction engine for weeding out viruses hidden in archive files.

AlphaTrust Corp., Dallas, through a strategic alliance with E-Lock Technologies, now offers Guaranteed Electronic Signature Service including a customized version of E-Lock's Assured Office 4.0. AlphaTrust's Guaranteed Electronic Signature Service now bundles an AlphaTrust Digital ID and its version of Assured Office 4.0, which allows users to electronically sign Microsoft Word documents with embedded signatures. Signatures can also be attached to documents created in other applications, including HTML, PDF, JPEG, and others.

PC Guardian, San Rafael, Calif., has released a Microsoft Windows 2000-compatible version of Encryption Plus Hard Disk, the company's data protection software that secures information on a computer' hard disk by using the Blowfish algorithm and a 192-bit encryption key. In addition to data protection, Encryption Plus Hard Disk provides administrators with tools to simplify and speed up installation, recover lost passwords, and increase control over strength and expiration of user's passwords.

zTrace Inc., Cambridge, Mass., monitors a stolen computer through the Internet by tracing its unique identification code. If the laptop or PC is stolen, as soon as the theft is reported to zTrace, an alert is activated. The first time the thief tries to access the Web, the SOS function will report the location of the computer to the zTrace command center.

Banksys, Paris, has launched a new e-commerce initiative, Banxafe, a secure system for e-commerce payments which encompasses all types of existing payment card systems and makes their use possible in the virtual world a chip-card and PIN give access to a virtual wallet in which the customer finds duplicates of his physical cards. The link to the virtual wallet is automatic, thus generating the virtual cards with identical resources and functionality to their real-world counterparts.

Aladdin Knowledge Systems, Chicago, has released Privilege 1.6, an integrated electronic software licensing system. Adding to Privilege's flexible licensing capabilities, version 1.6 provides advanced subordinate licensing options that allow terms of the license to be changed with minimal effort; software vendors and publishers can easily distribute and alter licenses via the Internet. New license flexibility tools can either automatically or manually cancel licenses.
