The Pyramid Series Proximity line of readers, cards and tags from Keri Systems Inc., San Jose, Calif., features small, thin packaging, says the supplier. Single-piece design, standard Wiegand interface, and potted weather- and vandal-resistant electronics are also featured. The first in the series, the P-300 Cascade Reader, is designed to mount directly to a metal mullion door frame. The second is the P-500 Sierra Reader, which mounts to either a single-gang U.S. electrical box or a flat surface. The readers feature a three-color LED status indicator and an audio tone. Credentials include the PSC-1 Light Proximity Card, featuring a lifetime warranty; the image-ready, ISO-thin PSM-2 Multi-Technology Proximity Card, available with magnetic stripe; and the PSK-3 Proximity Key Ring Tag.
Magnetic stripe readers, cast in stainless steel housings, stand up to adverse environments. The readers' electronics are encapsulated in epoxy resin for further protection. Cards can be read on Track 1, 2 and 3. The readers, manufactured by Continental Instruments LLC, Westbury, N.Y., come in a variety of architectural finishes, including matte black, high-gloss polished stainless steel, brushed stainless steel, off-wite matte, gray matte and bright brass.
The SAFEnet system rotational proximity reader changes keypad number orientation after each use to frustrate security code theft through observation. A product of Monitor Dynamics Inc., a subsidiary of Ultrak Inc., the reader is back-lit, supports magnetic stripe technology and is compatible with HID and Motorola Indala cards, according to the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based company.
A line of Dorado Systems Inc. access control readers is compatible with proximity cards that operate at 125 KHz frequency, according to the Broomfield, Colo.-based company. The units also read magnetic stripe cards.
The V3 series manual swipe magnetic card readers are designed for point-of-sale, club membership and other ID card checkers, access management and remote terminals for computers. Single-, dual- and triple-track configurations are available. Each read-only version is available with a protective, snap-on cover. Card-feeding speed is 100-1,200 mm/second, according to supplier Omron Electronics Inc., Schaumburg, Ill.
