The black-and-white BC-450 and the color BC-935C are GBC ball cameras from CCTV Corp., South Hackensack, N.J. Discreet to fit into any decor, they are also adjustable, weatherproof and compact, measuring 31/2x3 inches, says CCTV Corp. The BC-450 provides more than 425 lines of resolution and has a sensitivity of 0.03 lux. The color BC-935 has a resolution of more than 330 lines and a sensitivity of 0.4 lux. Both models come with a 4mm lens, and 2. 5-12mm lenses are available.

Dedicated Micros, Reston, Va., has introduced Sprite 4 multiplexers. The Sprite DX4 (monochrome) and DX4C (color) are four-camera, duplex multiplexers, featuring quad picture display with high-quality, full-screen multiplex recording. Both models incorporate the company's new C-Bus, which provides network access for E-Support, the company's remote servicing initiative.

Designed for security and surveillance applications, the UP-960 and UP-980 printers from Sony Electronics, Montvale, N.J., feature enhanced image quality, faster print time and functionality, says Sony. The UP-960 is a full-page, black-and-white video graphic printer that produces high-quality hard-copy images, says Sony. It features one frame of memory, a selectable aspect ratio, and a selectable multiple print mode that allows users to print two pictures per page. The UP-980 is a full-page, black-and-white, PC-interfaced Multiscan printer that produces high-quality hard copy or transparency images. It features 256 gray level control, two frames of memory and a selectable multiple print mode. Both printers accept NTSC and PAL signals.

Kalatel, Corvallis, Ore., has introduced ViewPoint, a digital video recording system that provides time-stamped visual verification of events from a variety of sites. ViewPoint integrates with CCTV systems to capture and store images on a remote server which can then be time/date-coded for easy retrieval. Stored images can be accessed remotely from any site in the world, says Kalatel.

Camera surveillance systems from Videolarm, Decatur, Ga., are available pre-wired for fiber-optic cable. Each unit is pre-wired with a fiber transmitter so installers only have to connect the system to fiber-optic cable to complete the job, says Videolarm. The fiber option resolves electric and ground loop installation problems, according to the company.

A multiplexer-based system from Philips Communication and Security Systems, Lancaster, Pa., combines four CCTV surveillance system control functions in one compact unit. The System4 video controller serves as a matrix switcher, a color multiplexer, a pan/tilt/zoom controller, and a VCR controller. It can handle multiple multiplexers from local and remote sites without adding CPUs or servers. The addition of a keyboard allows control of up to 30 multiplexers. With a separate keyboard port expander, up to four remote keyboards can control one System4 unit. It comes in three models: 9-channel duplex; 16-channel duplex; and 16-channel simplex, in NTSC and PAL formats.

NVP 2.2S (stand-alone) and NVP 2.2P (PC-based) video processors are available from Nuwave Technologies, Fairfield, N.J. The NVP 2.2S is a manual, stand-alone unit that enable users to make independent adjustments to composite or S-video signal and works with PAL or NTSC. The NVP 2.2P features Y/C (S-video) and composite inputs and outputs. Video input can be selected by a switch, and both outputs are active while the unit is operating.

Cellular Lookout from Colorado Video, Boulder, Colo., is a family of solar-powered cameras that use cellular technology to transmit pictures from remote sites where AC power and hardwired communications channels are not readily available. Three versions are available: a call to the model 450A causes it to acquire and send a picture to its companion receiver, model 451A; alternatively, the model 450B places a call and transmits a picture upon external trigger; model 450C combines these functions. Transmission of the picture to the receiver for display on a monitor takes 32 seconds, says the company.

TXIP-Connect software, from Prism Video, Dallas, allows TCP/IP addressing of the TX300 and TX800 series of digital video transmitters on the network when connected via serial ports (RS-232) to an existing station on the network. Using TXIP-Connect, network users can access live video from remote camera installations from their desktop, and anyone with dial-in access can connect to digital video transmitters via the Internet.

SentryVision, a "traveling" CCTV system from Sentry Technology Corp., Hauppauge, N.Y., features hidden, cable-free video cameras. SentryVision enables security personnel to "follow" suspicious individuals and to detect safety hazards hidden from view of conventional CCTV cameras, says the maker. The system comprises dual pan/tilt/zoom cameras mounted in opposing positions on a carriage. Each camera has a microcontroller-based auto-focus/auto-iris lens with a 12x optical plus 4x electric zoom. The cable-free carriage runs silently along a track installed along the ceiling of a facility at speeds of up to 15 feet per second. The track and cameras are concealed in a shatterproof, tinted enclosure. Video is displayed on remote monitors. For tracks longer than 500 feet, a second pair of cameras may be installed and the input multiplexed.
