In the article “Downtown Security, Uptown Technologies” (Access Control & Security Systems, May 2004), Carlos Villarreal, director of security and safety for Trizec Properties Inc., was quoted as saying: “We prefer barrier turnstiles today over optical turnstiles.” He was referring to the generic category of optical turnstiles, which do not have physical barriers. He was not referring to the brand Optical Turnstiles, which is the product name of barrier turnstiles supplied by Automatic Control Systems Inc., Port Washington, N.Y. In fact, 42 lanes of Optical Turnstiles from ACS were successfully installed and have been in use for over two years at Sears Tower.

The same article should have disclosed that consultant Howard Safir, CEO and chairman of Safir Rosetti Inc., serves on the board of directors of Rapor Inc., New Britain, Conn., and that his partner Joseph Rosetti is chairman of the board. In the article, Mr. Safir said he had recommended Rapor's product to several clients.
