MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS

Edwards Systems Technology Inc., Mississauga, Ontario., has acquired Lancaster, Pa.-based IDenticard Systems Inc. and IDenticam Systems Canada Ltd., Markham, Ontario. IDenticard products combine biometric identification methods with networked computers, and has annual revenues of about $30 million, says Edwards' parent company, SPX Corp., Charlotte, N.C.

AGREEMENTS

GE Interlogix, Plainville, Conn., has appointed System Solutions, Astin, Minn., and KBR Marketing, Swanton, Ohio, as manufacturer's representatives for the Fiber Options security product line.

Pacom Systems North America Inc., Sarasota, Fla., has appointed VTI Security Integrators, Burnsville, Minn., as the newest member of the network of Value Added Resellers of Pacom enterprise security solutions.

Intelli-Check Inc., Woodbury, N.Y., has entered a three-year partnership with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), under which AAAE will market and promote Intelli-Check products.

Netherlands-based retailer Royal Ahold has chosen Checkpoint Systems Inc., Thorofare, N.J., as its preferred global supplier of supply chain technologies. The preferred supplier status is effective immediately and incorporates any future investment on EAS systems in Royal Ahold's wholly-owned companies worldwide.

Communications Specialties, Hauppage, N.Y., has appointed Links AV, Lebanon, as representative for its line of fiber optic and computer video products in the Middle East.

Network Associates Inc., Santa Clara, Calif., and Texas Instruments Inc., Dallas, have partnered to provide a wireless security solution for OMAP application processors targeting 2.5G and 3G wireless handsets and other mobile devices.

Cyber-security consulting firm ESSI, Seattle, has allied with GS-3, Tel Aviv, Israel, a provider of counter-terrorism consulting.

Silent Witness Enterprises Ltd., Surrey, B.C., has been selected as a strategic partner of Diebold, North Canton, Ohio. Silent Witness' CCTV camera and video storage solutions will now be offered through Diebold's Electronic Security and Currency Systems Group. Silent Witness has also signed a strategic partnership with Hamilton Safe, Springdale, Ohio, under which the Silent Witness line of Gyyr branded digital video management systems (DVMS) will be one of two digital video recorder lines offered by Hamilton Safe.

IDenticard, Lancaster, Pa., and ITC Systems, St. Louis, have formed an alliance to makeIDenticard's access control and imaging systems compatible with ITC Systems' cash card systems for college and university campuses.

IR Recognition Systems, Campbell, Calif., the biometric component of Ingersoll-Rand's (IR) Security & Safety Group's Electronic Access Control (EACD), has partnered with Sonitrol, Alexandria, Va., a unit of Tyco Fire & Security. Under the agreement IR Recognition Systems biometric hand geometry HandReaders can be used with Sonitrol access control panels.

PowerDsine, Israel, is teaming with Axis Communications, Chelmsford, Mass., to offer a solution enabling power feeding over standard Ethernet cables for a range of IP surveillance solutions that combine network cameras and video servers into a converged IP solution.

Shavlik Technologies LLC, St. Paul, Minn., has formed a strategic alliance with security information management firm Archer Technologies LLC, Kansas City, Kan., under which Shavlik will develop baselines for Microsoft-based technologies to be integrated into Archer's Security 2003 Product Suite, used to help secure networks.

The Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) unit, Morris Township, N.J., will acquire the assets of Sensotec Inc., a Columbus, Ohio-based sensor supplier.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Intelli-Check Inc., Irving, Texas, have entered into an agreement designed to increase the use of ID-Check, an age and document verification system that allows identification of fake IDs to prevent those under 21 from purchasing alcohol.

Barcode Automation Inc., Winter Springs, Fla., has announced a 61 percent increase in demand for its barcode systems for vehicle access control and identification in the last fiscal year.

The managed security and consulting services provided by Guardent, Waltham, Mass., have received the Crossroads A-List Award in the Information Security category from Open System Advisors Inc. Judges selected Guardent for its ability to help corporations understand potential security risks; to manage and monitor security devices; and to help achieve better information security.

Indigo Security LLC has announced its corporate launch. The company, specializing in critical enterprise information protection, was founded by Todd Graham, Jonathan Hudson and Sloan Ventures LLC and is headquartered in Dexter, Mich.

Effective Feb. 1, Fire King International Inc., FireKing Security Products LLC, and Image Vault LLC will do business as FKI Security Group, New Albany, Ind. The 14th Annual Government Technology Conference (GTC Southwest) has awarded Fargo Electronics Inc., Eden Prairie, Minn., an “Exhibitor Best Solution” certificate for its work with the City of Jacksonville, Fla., in developing a digital photo ID badging system.

The National Corrections and Law Enforcement Training and Technology Center (NCLETTC), West Virginia, will use Suspect ID, Vehicle ID and CrimeLab software from ImageWare Systems Inc., San Diego, as part of the center's criminal investigative courses. MAC Systems, Avon, Mass., has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence from Indala, San Jose, Calif., for its outstanding performance and collaborative relationship with Indala. MAC Systems increased sales of Indala products by 320 percent in 2002.

Fire Systems Design Inc., Hurst, Texas, has expanded its offices in the Dallas-Forth Worth area.

Rainbow Technologies Inc., Irvine, Calif., has announced that sales of the company's Sentinel software security token has surpassed 30 million units. The milestone unit was sold in January.

Several leading IT professionals have joined forces to launch ReDvolution Technologies. The new company is headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
