Alarm Security Group LLC, Beltsville, Md., an electronic security company, has acquired Matrix Security Group, Turnersville, N.J., a commercial and residential security systems provider.

Tyco International, Princeton, N.J., a provider of security products and services, has acquired Trident Tek Inc., Germantown, Md., a developer of video surveillance solutions.

Somerset International Group Inc., Bedminster, N.J., a security technology holding company, has acquired Fire Control Electrical Systems Inc., North Plainfield, N.J., a supplier of fire and security equipment.

Technology security company Macrovision Corp., Santa Clara, Calif., provider of solutions enabling businesses to distribute their digital goods to consumers, is purchasing the assets from Cryptography Research Inc., San Francisco, whose technology allows customers to add security protections to film.

Agreements

Fargo Electronics Inc., Minneapolis, a supplier of secure technologies for ID card systems, has signed a joint marketing agreement with UK-based Optaglio Ltd., a developer of security microstructure technology, to provide the framework for security solutions using Fargo's HD printing technology.

Pegasus Capital Advisors has made an investment in T&M Protection Resources LLC, New York, a security services provider of security guards, investigative and intelligence services, executive protection and more.

Send Word Now, New York, a provider of on-demand alerting and response services, is partnering with Office Shadow, New York, author of Web-based business management software, to bring together their applications.

Panasonic System Solutions Company, Secaucus, N.J., a provider of video surveillance and digital signage solutions, has formed an alliance with North American Video, Brick, N.J., to further increase its presence in the gaming market.

Announcements

Verint Systems Inc., Melville, N.Y., a provider of actionable intelligence solutions, has been named to Software Magazine's Annual Software 500.

Genetec, Montreal, a supplier of IP solutions for the physical security industry, has been ranked on Deloitte's 2007 Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology in North America.

CardLogix, Irvine, Calif., a provider of security smart cards, announced that its CREDENTSYS-J smart card has been certified to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and FIPS 201.

IBM's Internet Security Systems (ISS) division has been recognized as the leading managed security services (MSS) provider in 2007 in a report by industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan.
