Companies in the News: HID, Keri Systems reach licensing agreement

HID Corp., Irvine, Calif., and Keri Systems Inc., San Jose, Calif., have jointly announced that HID has licensed Keri under HID's U.S. patent numbers 4546241, 47730188, 50411826 and 5166676. HID has also reached an agreement to license its Prox by HID technology to Keri Systems.

Northern Computers Inc., Milwaukee, and PSA, Denver, have formed a strategic alliance to develop business opportunities and sales and marketing programs.

PSA Security Network, Denver, will hold its 22nd annual Technical Conference March 1-5 at the Renaissance Denver Hotel.

Delta Security Group Inc., Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, has become an authorized distributor of Axcess' ActiveTag RFID and Prism Video product lines. Delta Security, prior to becoming an authorized distributor, was a certified dealer of products by Axcess Inc., Dallas. Axcess has also received notification from the U.S. Patent Office of the award of two new video patents. The patents cover two digital video compression techniques that improve the performance of transmitted or stored video.

The IdentiSoft division of Vasco Data Security International Inc., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., has partnered with Novell Inc., Provo, Utah, to extend to Novell Modular Authentication Service to extend the benefits of strong user authentication through Vasco's family of Digipass authentication clients.

KyberPASS Corp., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and RSA Security Inc., Bedford, Mass., have formed a strategic relationship in which KyberPASS has received "RSA Keon Ready" certification for its KyberPASS 4.0 suite of products.

Versus Technology Inc., Traverse City, Mich., has organized its security products division to operate alongside its IR Healthcare sales force.

Silent Witness, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, has teamed with Network Video Technologies, Redwood City, Calif., to provide a built-in twisted pair solution in Silent Witness' V27 camera.

Kanetmatsu USA, Somerset, N.J., has announced extended-warranty protection for its Nisca line of printers, along with a "hot swap" program that will provide customers with next-day delivery of a replacement printer if their original unit needs repairs.

Pinkerton's Inc., Westlake Village, Calif., has acquired South Arkansas Security, Camden, Ark., and Capital City Patrol, Little Rock, Ark. Through the acquisitions, Pinkerton adds approximately 90 professional security officers to its local staff.

Alpha Systems Lab Inc., Irvine, Calif., has signed a strategic alliance with TEAC Corp.'s Information Products Division, Tokyo, to distribute Alpha Systems' RemoteWatch and DigiCorder product lines into the Japanese market.

Richardson Electronics' Security Systems Division, Houston, has joined the National Independent Bank Equipment and Systems Association, Park Ridge, Ill.

Ultrak Inc., Lewisville, Texas, has introduced an educational pilot program that will provide an on-site evaluation of security needs. The project is targeted at school board members and superintendents in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

Aberdeen Group, Boston, lauded VicinID, a network security product provided by First Access, Somerset, N.J., as convenient for users and an "evolutionary step in network security."

Motorola, San Jose, Calif., and Identix Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., have formed a partnership to introduce DFR 3000 optical reader, a fingerprint-based security solution.
