Companies in the News: Laminex donates badging to schools

D&K Laminex Inc., Charlotte, N.C., has donated photo-identification-badging systems to school districts in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas and Oakland, Calif.

HID Corp. has announced a joint development project with Hirsch Speidel, Irvine, Calif. The project will allow HID to embed Hirsh's ProxWatch and ProxBand products technology that operate the same as proximity-based card access systems. The ProxWatch and Proxband will be individually programmed like proximity cards and will be compatible with existing card access systems.

At SecurityLink, Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., the new AccountLink service allows security directors to access data via a secure Web site at any time of the day from their office, home or on the road. The service gives corporate security directors electronic access to burglar alarm, or open-and-close data for hundreds of locations.

International Total Services Inc. (ITS), Cleveland, has acquired Metroplex Control Systems Inc., Dallas, an electronic systems integrator.

Pinkerton Inc., Westlake Village, Calif., has consolidated all of its classified-contract security business, including the Pinkerton Aerospace division, under Pinkerton Government Services Inc. Pinkerton Government Services provides security officer and patrol services, and investigation and consulting services to government entities and contractors.

Who?Vision Systems Inc., Lake Forest, Calif., and Philips Flat Display Systems, San Jose, Calif., have created and tested compact fingerprint biometrics solutions. The size and durability of this solution allows biometrics to be incorporated into the full range of Internet-connected devices from personal digital assistants to cell phones to laptop computers to set-top boxes.

Raytheon Company, Lexington, Mass., has reached partnerships with Aspect Technology & Equipment Inc., Plano, Texas; EMX Inc., Orlando, Fla.; Leake Company, Dallas; and Pyser-SGI Ltd., Edenbridge, Kent, United Kingdom. Each have unveiled new thermal imaging security cameras that incorporate Raytheon's infrared technology.

Motorola Inc., Radio Products Group, Schaumburg, Ill., has signed a memorandum of understanding with Toppan Forms Co. Ltd., Tokyo, to jointly develop and market "smart" label solutions incorporating Motorola's Bistatix radio frequency identification technology.

ADT Security Systems Inc., Boca Raton, Fla., launched Mobile Security NETwork, an all-in-one mobile security systems designed to help monitor the locations of vehicles. Specifically designed for businesses, the ADT system merges Global Positioning Satellite technology with wireless communications and 24-hour monitoring to increase the safety of fleets and lower risk and liability.

Guardian Bastille, Smithfield, R.I., a spin-off of two companies, Enervations Inc. and New England Sun Control, both of Jamestown, R.I., will help governments and corporations around the world improve their odds of surviving a terrorist attack by use of window film products and CEIA access control systems.

The Cosmicar Lens Division of Pentax Corp., Englewood, Colo., has appointed Intelligent Marketing, Andover, Mass., to its network of manufacturers representatives.

Diebold Inc., Canton, Ohio, and Ultrak Inc., Lewisville, Texas, have formed a worldwide strategic alliance in electronic security systems sales and marketing. Under the new strategic alliance, Diebold will begin featuring the full range of Ultrak's CCTV, access control, Enterprise Security Solution, v ideo management and networking products.

Sensormatic Electronic Corp., Boca Raton, Fla., and Intermec Technologies Corp., Dallas, have agreed in principal to form an alliance with PSC Inc., Webster, N.Y., to create a line of automatic data capture products that integrates RFID and laser barcode reading with anti-theft tag deactivation.
