Advanced Information Technologies, Nepean, Ontario, and Monitoring Automation Systems (MAS), Irvine, Calif., have entered into a technology partnership. The companies intend to deliver integrated, local and remote video telesurveillance monitoring capabilities based on open standards for central monitoring stations.
American Magnetics Corp., Carson, Calif., has merged with Securitas Technology of the U.K. According to Bob Sawyer, American Magnetics president, the merger brings together markets in the Americas, the Far East and throughout Europe.
Elmo Mfg., Rockville Centre, N.Y., has named three sales representatives to handle its ITV/CCD product lines. Benjamin Keith of Gold Line Marketing will represent Elmo in northern California and northern Nevada. Burhans/Burhans will represent Elmo in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Jim Fairbank of Commercial Video Representatives will represent Elmo in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
The Security Industry Association has awarded TESA Access Control's ML500 electronic lock with the Product Achievement Award for Access Control Systems. The award was presented at the ISC Expo in Las Vegas on March 17. For information, call 800-472-TESA.
KingAlarm and King Central, Hackensack, N.J., have added financial services to their customer support programs. King Capital Financial Services includes a consumer financing program that allows dealers to offer free systems and receive cash, free equipment and ownership of the account. Also offered are a revenue sharing program, dealer loans and account acquisitions.
Guardian International, Hollywood, Fla., has merged with Everest Security Systems Corp. to become a public company. Guardian, headed by Richard Ginsburg, has taken control of the combined entity. The stock currently trades on the NASD bulletin board.
Anicom Inc., Rosemont, Ill., has purchased Carolina Cable and Connector, Raleigh, N.C., for approximately $3.5 million in stock and cash. Carolina Cable and Connector sells and distributes wire and cable, fiber optics and computer network and connectivity products. Anicom has also purchased New Orleans-based Security Supply Inc. for $2 million in stock and cash.
Unican Security Systems Ltd. of Montreal has announced that its wholly owned, Paris-based subsidiary, Ilco Unican France S.A., will purchase 100 percent of the shares of ACI of Paris. ACI, through its wholly owned subsidiary, SF2E, is a manufacturer and supplier of automated, guest-usable check-in terminals for the hotel industry.
Shepherd Surveillance Solutions, a Manchester, N.H.-based developer of PC-based video surveillance security systems, has opened a West Coast sales office in northern California. The company will appoint two area sales managers. The office is headed by Susie Nettleton, who reports to Barry McGriff, vice president of sales.
Tyco International, Exeter, N.H., intends to buy ADT Ltd. for $5.6 billion in stock. The offer tops a hostile bid from ADT shareholder Western Resources.
Computerized Security Systems, Costa Mesa, Calif., and LaGard Inc. have merged. LaGard, a manufacturer of products for safe access control, will operate as a division of Computerized Security Systems. The combined company is an operating unit of Masco Corp., a manufacturer of lock hardware and other building products.
St. Louis-based Access Control Technologies (ACT) has merged with Amtron Technical Services. Amtron will operate as Amtron Security Devices, a division of ACT. The companies plan to release new products based on magnetic stripe, proximity and smart card technologies.
