A back-door lock combines a metal drop-bar with a panic push-bar. The Arm-A-Dor, manufactured by Sargent and Greenleaf Inc., Nicholasville, Ky., cannot be locked from the outside, is bolted through the door with Grade 5 carriage bolts and hardened steel sleeves and has a 11/2-inch steel bar extending over both sides of the interior door frame. An automatic relocking option is available. The UL-listed lock meets the life-safety codes of the National Fire Protection Association.
A proximity reader uses brackets for mounting on glass or hollow metal mullions. The ProxPro Plus proximity card reader from HID, Tustin, Calif., allows cable access to the electronics from the side. The 7x7x1-inch unit has a read range of up to 12-14 inches. It offers Wiegand protocol interface and optional RS232 and RS422 serial interface.
A local door alarm circuit board monitors a card reader-controlled door to determine and enunciate unauthorized passage, including tailgate passage. The LDATG from K-Sys, Bastrop, Texas, has an internal tailgate monitoring program and a set of doorway-mounted sensors. LDATG uses standard card reader system inputs and outputs.
The System 2 Network 5.1 for access control can add doors, users and features using a built-in programming keypad and 48-character liquid crystal display. The system is offered by Corby Industries Inc., Allentown, Pa. With the addition of the Full-Duplex RS232 feature, a PC can be added for on-site or remote programming.
