Faraday inaugurates one-stop shopping for fire alarm systems and accessories

Faraday Inc., Tecumseh, Mich., recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new "one-stop shopping" center for dealer-installed fire alarm equipment. The Faraday Fire Alarm Distribution Center, Memphis, Tenn., is designed to serve dealers and installers of moderate-size life safety fire alarm systems. A 64-page catalog describing the company's product line has been sent to customers and prospects. Once ordered, items will be delivered using FedEx Express Saver.

"Immediate access is the wave of the future for smaller, less complex fire alarm and life safety systems," says Dennis Riley, president of Faraday.

The SK-2224 two-zone fire panel from Silent Knight Security Systems, Maple Grove, Minn., is easy to install and program and features uncomplicated DIP switches, according to the maker. The panel's enhanced smoke verification feature enables it to verify signals from smoke detectors and respond instantly to pull stations within the same zone, says Silent Knight. Remote annunciator and digital communicator add-ons are also available. The panel uses a 2.5-amp power supply.

The New Classic PC1555 from DSC Security Products, Downsview, Ontario, offers hybrid wireless and hardwired security and fire protection. The software-driven, 6- to 8-zone system features hybrid sensors and controllers, printer output with false alarm prevention features and system inactivity reporting. The system can also be programmed to send notification of any event to other numbers or to a personal pager. It supports a wireless key fob, a water-resistant panic pendant and two-way handheld keypads, and it features off-site upload and download service capabilities.

Simplex, Gardner, Mass., has introduced enhancements to its TrueAlarm smoke sensors - advances in alarm detection accuracy, installation, maintenance, flexibility and aesthetics, according to Simplex. Sensor measurements can be converted from analog levels to a patented Simplex protocol for faster, more secure digital communications and less susceptibility to nuisance alarms caused by cellular phones, walkie-talkies, pagers and other wireless devices, says the company.
