Former medical employee shoots six at hospital
A former employee of Seventh Day Adventist Clinic in Hagatna, Guam, shot six people — killing two — at the hospital before killing himself. Five of the victims were shot on the second floor of the medical clinic, while the other victim was shot on the first floor of the two-story building. Police say the motive for the shooting is under investigation, but a domestic dispute has been cited as a possible cause.
Driver may have wanted to kill pedestrians, police say
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's office is investigating whether a University of California freshman intentionally drove his car into a crowd walking along a street. Four of the pedestrians were killed and a fifth was injured. Sheriff's deputies arrested David Edward Attias, 18, booking him on investigation of drunk driving and vehicular homicide.
Mardi Gras parties turn violent
Mardi Gras revelers in Austin, Texas, and Seattle clashed with police during festivities to celebrate the annual event. Police arrested 35 people in Austin just a few hours after police in Seattle used pepper spray and rubber bullets to break up an unruly crowd of more than 2,000 people.
