Prior professional experience: 30 years in law enforcement as a patrolman, sergeant and lieutenant; special agent and assistant director for the division of criminal investigation, Des Moines, Iowa; assistant security manager, John Deere.

Professional affiliations: International Security Managers Association, ASIS, Peoria County Chiefs of Police Association, Overseas Advisory Board for the State Department.

Education: Bachelor's in business administration, University of Northern Iowa; master's in public administration, Drake University.

Personal: Married to Diane; daughter Racheal is a teacher in Des Moines.

Personal philosophy: I strive to be on the leading edge of technology, and I strive to be the provider of an efficient, quality security service.

One word that best describes you: Energetic.

Hobbies: History buff, particularly World War II.

Favorite movie: Titanic, from a historical perspective.

Greatest challenge: To see that the security service meets the needs of Caterpillar.

Greatest reward: To be recognized as a valued member of the company.

Heroes: George Bush; people who have served their country well.

Goals for the future: In the next few years, to be able to turn the corporate security unit over to my successor with little room for improvement.
