Keypads' open technology facilitates system expansion

Recognizing the need for unencumbered system expansion, IEI recently introduced its Open Technology Series Keypads. Each keypad can handle any level of access control, working as an IEI single-door system or with larger, non-IEI, 26-bit Wiegand panels, says IEI product manager Neil Licht. Since no hardware modifications are needed, system expansion is simple, he says.

Models include SSWFX, a keypad with no moving parts that can withstand rough duty, and SSWiL, featuring sleek looks and backlit keys. Each is encased in a polished metal frame with flush-mount design for a low profile. Model Q15, a mullion-shaped keypad, has no moving parts and keeps a PIN secure by hiding it from viewing by others during input. Durability, elegant looks and standardization for ease of use are hallmarks of the keypad line, says Licht.

In addition to its new Open Technology series, IEI offers the DoorGard 212 Series of basic keypads and the 232 Series of self-contained access control keypads. DoorGard keypads range from basic indoor to all-weather outdoor units. To ensure a closed door, 232 Series keypads have built-in door-position-monitoring inputs, plus door-ajar and door-forced annunciation relays.

Models SSWil, SSWFX, Q15, and DoorGard 212 and 232 Series INTERNATIONAL ELECTRONICS INC. (IEI) Canton, Mass.
