SPOTLIGHT: SR-19 Thermal Imager

The SR-19 Thermal Imager from FLIR Systems is a passive thermal system that detects intruders without using infrared illuminators. The unit, which features an uncooled infrared sensor, provides long-wave thermal imaging that allows it to “see” in darkness. Short-range detecting makes pictures viewable through smoke, dust and light fog. With a 36-degree field-of-view, the camera detects objects and people at both short and medium ranges. Other features include automatic image-processing functions, low power consumption and all-weather corrosion-resistant housing. Additional network options allow for integration with supplier-specific management systems.

In addition to being used in security applications such as port and airport security, border surveillance and anti-terrorism, SR-19 Thermal Imagers are regularly being installed in 5-, 6- and 7-Series BMW automobiles. The imagers are housed in the front bumpers of the vehicles to act as a nighttime driving aid, allowing drivers to see 2,000 ft. in front of the car. Iris Reader

VERIFIES IDENTITY IN 0.3 SECONDS

The iris reader contains an iris image capture engine with a dual-mirror design to provide non-invasive biometric identification and authentication. The system makes a template or “map” of each person's iris pattern and stores it in a database or on an access card or token. To verify identity, the person looks into the iris reader, and the system compares it with the templates stored in the database or portable device. If there is a match, access is granted.
