Gregory Smith has been appointed director of electronic security systems at Mosler Inc., Hamilton, Ohio. He will direct marketing efforts for the company's electronic security products. Previously, Smith served as vice president of operations at J.L. Torbeck Co.

Proprietary Controls Systems Corp. (PCSC), Rancho Dominguez, Calif., has added to its sales team. Timothy McCarthy joins PCSC as western distribution manager and will work in the company's corporate office. Eugene Daniel Jr. joins PCSC as eastern regional distribution manager and will work in New Jersey.

Patricia Gilmore, director of application risk management at Charles Schwab and Company in San Francisco, has been elected president of the Information Systems Security Association at its annual meeting. She is joined by: newly elected vice president Donald Evans of the United Space Alliance of Houston; treasurer Henry Moreno of Insource Technology of Houston; and newly elected director membership/chapter relations Nellie White-Ward of Sandia National Labs, Albuquerque, N.M. Don Kossnar has been named as western regional sales manager of Code Blue Corp., Holland Mich. Kossnar will be based in Orange, Calif. Matt Bretoi has been named as southeastern regional sales manager, based in Sarasota, Fla.

John Rocco has been promoted to assistant vice president at SpectaGuard Inc., Waltham. Mass. He will supervise and coordinate all aspects of SpectaGuard's security services for BankBoston, including branches, operations centers, buildings and ATM machines in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode island.

Jim Farren has joined Rutherford Controls Inc., Virginia Beach, Va., as western regional sales manager. His territory is west of the Mississippi.

Thomas Thompson has been appointed as national sales director of Shepherd Surveillance Inc., Manchester, N.H. He will report to Barry McGriff, vice president of sales for Shepherd, and will build a network of manufacturing representatives and work with system integrators to develop distribution channels.

Philips Communication and Security Systems Inc., Lancaster, Pa., welcomes Efrain Pineres to sales and marketing as Latin America sales manager. Pineres, who speaks fluent English and Spanish, has more than 13 years sales and management experience in U.S. and Latin American high-tech industry. Philips also welcomes Luis Angulo to the applications department as senior technologist. Angulo, who is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, will focus on Latin America customer support.

Security Lock Distributors, Needham Heights, Mass., has appointed Scott Racine to its technical service department. Previously, he worked for IEI and Visonic. Lauris Freidenfelds has been appointed as regional manager of the new Chicago office of Systech Group, a Virginia-based security, fire protection and communications engineering design and consulting firm. Freidenfelds will serve Midwest clients.
