The Fiber Defender 220 is designed for perimeter fence applications, but can also be used on walls and buried under ground. The fiber-optic cable system combines an alarm processor, digital signal processing and signal-adaptive firmware that simplifies calibration and enhances nuisance rejection, says maker Fiber SenSys Inc., Beaverton, Ore. The systems may be integrated into existing alarm panels or networked using the company's Fiber-Optic Security Network modules. The FD-220 model is a commercial adaptation of military-tailored models FD-205 and FD-206.
A vehicle barricade system that can be bolted directly to a road surface is offered by Delta Scientific Corp., Valencia, Calif. Model TW2015 consists of a high-strength, welded-steel ground frame and a movable steel plate that is either hydraulically or pneumatically raised and lowered. The barricade system is crash-rated and can be operated with access control devices such as control panels, key pads, key switches and card readers. Options include a self-contained pumping unit, left- or right-hand buttress, integral gate arm, signal lights, vehicle safety detectors and automated entrance controls with a programmable logic controller.
Perimbar perimeter barriers comprise modulated and synchronized infrared beams fitted in slim columns available in heights of 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4 meters. Manufactured by Vindicator Technologies, Austin, Texas, the units are constructed of aluminum extrusions with filtered windows on three sides to conceal beam position, direction and pattern. The columns, which have a universal fixing point that allows mounting on walls and posts, can be installed up to 100 meters apart and have 90 percent attenuation. Synclink, a synchronizing link feature, facilitates multi-beam arrangements by eliminating the need to transpose sets of transmitters and receivers.
Perimitrax is an outdoor perimeter intrusion detection sensor that generates an invisible electromagnetic detection field around buried sensor cables. The field extends above and below ground and reports an alarm upon detection. Perimitrax can sense human characteristics such as mass and speed and ignore environmental factors such as small animals, providing a low false and nuisance alarm rate, says the maker, Senstar, N. Billerica, Mass.
