DETEX

“Close” Counts In More Than Just Horseshoes And Hand Grenades

Detex introduces the latest innovation in guard tour verification technology: the new GCS ProxiPen Data Acquisition Unit and WinDAU reporting software. ProxiPen's data points are Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, which ProxiPen senses and reads automatically whenever they come into its reading range. You don't need to actually touch the RFID tag; just get close!

The ProxiPen can read a tag even if it is wet, frosty, dirty, greasy, or painted over. In fact, ProxiPen's RFID tags may be concealed behind wallpaper, sheetrock, plaster, paneling, mirrors or any other nonmetallic surface; a real plus in applications where aesthetics or vandalism are considerations.

With ProxiPen, just getting close gives you more than meets the eye.

SECURITY INTERNATIONAL

A Leading-Edge System For Controlling Physical Access

The Security International Intelli-M product line provides a leading-edge system for controlling physical access to buildings or other structures where it is important to grant access only to the proper personnel at the proper time. The notable features of the Intelli-M product line include the unprecedented small size of the controller, merely 2.82 inches high, and the use of true read/write smart cards. “With the U.S. military standardizing on smart cards for multiple applications, we believe this signals the beginning of a shift from intelligence at the door, to intelligence in the user's pocket,” stated Security International president Joel Konicek. “Our unique technology anticipates this shift.”

Dealers will save time and money with Intelli-M's unique protocol and its quick and easy installation. The Hybrid Power Data Link (HPDL) protocol combines power and data on one twisted pair cable and the Intelli-M controllers snap easily into a quick-mount kit that fits on any standard double-gang electrical box.

Other products in the Intelli-M line include an Input/Output Extension (IOE), which provides eight inputs or eight outputs for applications requiring more sensors or the ability to control additional equipment, and an Auxiliary Service Module (ASM). The hub of the Intelli-M system is the Power and Communications Unit (PCU), which supports up to eight controllers and provides power for all the door components such as magnetic locks, door contacts, door strikes, readers and exit devices.

OMNITEK

Looking For A Prox Reader With Smarter Choices?

OmniTek has introduced a new Contactless Smart Card reader family named OmniSmart with an abundance of features — yet is priced no more than traditional 125 kHz prox readers available on the market today.

OmniSmart is a multi-standard contactless smart card reader capable of reading cards conforming to ISO 14443A/B and 15693 standards. The reader is optimized to work with Inside Contactless PicoTag/Pass® cards but can read the serial number of most ISO standard cards including HID's iClass, Philip's Mifare® and i•Code®, Texas Instrument's TagIt, Infineon's my-d, ST Micro, and others.

OmniSmart card readers are intended for the access control marketplace and are plug-and-play compatible with any panel capable of accepting an industry-standard Wiegand reader.

In the physical access marketplace, especially in the United States, 125 kHz proximity readers are the most popular card technology. However, they lack security, proprietary, and meet no international standards. Our OmniSmart reader family is the next generation readers for the physical access control marketplace as compared to the existing 125 kHz Prox technology that is so prevalent.

OmniSmart Features

  • Readers work at the same distance as existing 125 Hz readers

  • Low current consumption of 40 mA maximum @ 5 Volts DC

  • Tamper mechanism detects vandalism (security keys can be erased when a tamper condition is detected)

  • Operating characteristics of the reader and key management are administered using convenient control cards or a Handspring Visor PDA

  • Three different color bezels (black, charcoal, and ivory) are shipped with every reader to fit any décor.

MAXIM

World-Class Security And 10-Plus Years Of Durability For Access Control And eCash Applications

The DS1961S, the latest offering in the Dallas Semiconductor line of iButton® products, is targeted at access control and eCash applications. It is ideally suited for systems requiring secure entry to buildings/computers/networks, and eCash tokens for public transportation systems, vending machines, arcade games, or customer loyalty programs.

The DS1961S uses a U.S. government-approved cryptographic hash algorithm referred to as SHA-1 (Secure Hash Algorithm 1) to prevent fraudulent manipulation of data stored on the device or to keep hackers from emulating a genuine device. Each DS1961S can have a unique 64-bit secret, which is never revealed during communication between the host system and a DS1961S. The host system can determine authenticity of a particular DS1961S. Meanwhile, the DS1961S can also determine host's authenticity, and will only allow DS1961S data to be altered if the correct codes are supplied. In addition, the SHA-1 algorithm is implemented completely in hardware, so a full, secure transaction is accomplished in under 100mS.

Like all iButtons, the DS1961S chip is encased in stainless steel. This makes it cryptographically very secure, and one of the world's most durable tokens. Unlike flimsy plastic smart cards or magnetic stripe cards, the iButton delivers wear-tested durability of at least 10 years and mounts on a key ring for convenient usage. A system administrator saves the replacement costs for the card/token, as well as the often overlooked reissuing expenses.
