PSA Conference Debuts in Las Vegas
May 1, 2004 12:00 PM
The PSA Conference “premiered” in Las Vegas March 15-21, combining its member-only conference with the National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) Systems Integration Expo.
The PSA conference, which had been held in Denver for the past 15 years, teamed with the NSCA Expo, attracting a record-setting 11,000 attendees at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Flamingo Hotel. The new venue gave PSA the opportunity to expand its exhibit space, including the Security and Life Safety pavilion, which housed 80 exhibitors with full booths. The new locations also added more space for classes and functions.
The joint expo between PSA Security Network, an electronic security cooperative, and NSCA, a trade association representing the commercial electronic systems industry, provided attendees with the opportunity to view exhibits that ranged from integrated commercial systems to high-end security and life safety systems.
“I'm proud of PSA and our vendors for breaking out of the standard conference we have held in the past,” said PSA president and CEO Bill Bozeman, CPP.
“PSA, along with NSCA, presented a cohesive partnership to the national community of special systems providers,” added Daved Levine, president of SCI Inc., Albuquerque, N.M., a PSA member company.
“Taking the Mystery out of Working with Security Consultants,” a panel moderated by Sandy Jones of Sandy Jones and Co., discussed the qualifications consultants seek when partnering with an integration company and how integrators can position their companies to work with consultants. The panel included five of the industry's top consultants — Bob Cizmadia, vice president of corporate security services for Gage-Babcock; Jim Gompers, principal for Gompers Inc.; Matt Wharton, managing director for Safir Rosetti; Mark Peterson, principal for CH Guernsey; and Nadim Sawaya, president of Enterprise Performing Consulting.
PSA co-hosted a luncheon with the Electronics Representatives Association (ERA) aimed at establishing a national dialog between PSA members and manufacturers' field sales force.
