The Boeing Co., Chicago, has awarded a two-year contract to Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc., New York, to implement a smart card-based identity management system. Over the next five years, more than 200,000 Boeing employees, contractors and partners are scheduled to receive a multifunction smart card providing access to information systems and buildings.
As part of a re-building project, the city of Toronto has chosen an integrated access control and video solution from Software House, Lexington, Mass., and American Dynamics, San Diego, both business units of Tyco Fire & Security, to secure its Water Filtration and Pumping Stations. The city awarded the access control contract to Diebold of Canada, which will install five C·CURE 800 servers and more than 30 iSTAR controllers from Software House.
Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) has deployed its Loronix Digital Video Solution from Verint Systems Inc., Melville, N.Y., in eight locations in Asia as part of an ongoing program to centralize its security monitoring. The solution has enabled CSFB to centralize its security monitoring by networking video from eight offices throughout Asia to its security operations headquarters in Singapore.
Chicago's newly renovated Soldier Field, which re-opened for Chicago Bears games earlier this year, has chosen Monterrey Security, Chicago, to provide year-round, 24-hour security to the stadium, as well as handling security for all New Soldier Field activities, including games for both the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Fire, concerts, corporate events and other celebrations.
The New York Police Department has deployed a security system at One Police Plaza in New York City using fingerprint readers from Bioscrypt Inc., Toronto. By the end of the year, more than 50,000 police and civilian employees will be issued new badges containing a fingerprint credential.
The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has chosen two WhisprWave Small Craft Intrusion Barriers (SCIB) from Wave Dispersion Technologies, Summit, N.J., to be installed at dams in separate Illinois lake locations. The SCIB is designed to demarcate the marine port and/or dam security zone and impede hostile small crafts from penetrating it.
The Republic Group of Insurance Companies, Dallas, has chosen Fire Systems Design Inc., Hurst, Texas, to retrofit a fire alarm installation for its 314,000-square-foot headquarters. The system will include Notifier AM-2020 fire alarm control panels with remote audio paging capabilities.
The Hong Kong Science Park (HKSP) has chosen to expand a security system from CEM Systems, Belfast, a business unit of Tyco Fire & Security, to four additional buildings, bringing the total number of buildings controlled by the system to nine with almost 1,000 CEM S600 card readers installed.
The Missouri School Boards' Association (MSBA) has partnered with Digital Technology and Surveillance (DTS), Nixa, Mo., to present the company's Internet Protocol (IP) surveillance system to other school districts nationwide. MSBA selected DTS' OmniOculus system, based on network video products from Axis Communications, Chelmsford, Mass.
America Search and Rescue, a volunteer-based foundation whose mission is to assist any federal, state, local, public or private agency, organization or person in time of need has chosen to print its ID cards with the Zebra P310C card printer from Zebra Technologies, Camarillo, Calif. The organization uses plain PVC cards that include holograms to prevent counterfeiting.
Berlin International Airport has ordered facial recognition systems for Schoenefeld airport from Bochum, Germany-based ZN Vision Technologies AG.
