An Asian country has selected printers for driver's licenses from Team Nisca, Somerset, N.J. Using nearly 100 Nisca printers and laminators and customized holographic material, the country will produce licenses for more than 20 million drivers.

Duval County Public Schools (Jacksonville, Fla.) will install digital CCTV equipment in 17 high schools, 25 middle schools, administration offices, warehouses and some elementary schools from GE Interlogix's Kalatel division, Corvallis, Ore. At the high schools and middle schools, the system will monitor facilities with 59,000-plus students.

The Florida Management Services Department will implement surface-mounted barricades from Delta Scientific, Valencia, Calif., to guard entrances at the Florida State Capital Building in Tallahassee from vehicle assault. The addition of decorative bollards is planned for a later phase.

The California Department of Transportation is deploying an electronic surveillance system using high-speed Tsunami Ethernet bridges from Proxim Corp., Sunnyvale, Calif. The wireless networking technology is designed to protect the Bay Area's transportation infrastructure.

The California D.O.T. has also selected hundreds of cameras from RVision LLC, San Jose, to secure bridges and tunnels in the San Francisco Bay area.

The National Football League selected identification software developed by ImageWare Systems Inc., San Diego, to design and print secure ID badges for the Super Bowl. Using ID Card Maker, digital credentials were created for NFL officials, media and other people requiring restricted access to secure areas during the game.

The San Diego Police Department was equipped with newly developed handheld wireless microwave video receivers from Pacific Microwave Research, Vista, Calif., to support tactical operations during the Super Bowl. The receivers were used to provide real-time video from the law enforcement helicopter circling the stadium.

The United Kingdom's HM Customs and Excise and the Jamaican government have chosen a desktop detection system for trace quantities of narcotics and explosives from GE Ion Track, Plainville, Conn. The technology deployment is the result of a partnership between the countries to reduce the number of cocaine couriers that smuggle the drug onto Jamaican flights bound for the U.K.

The Department of Veterans Affair's John D. Dingell Medical Center in Detroit has modernized its security and surveillance systems using the QuadView multiple window display processor from RGB Spectrum, Alameda, Calif. The systems integrator was Security 2000, Wall, N.J.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has chosen Q-View Cameras from Videolarm, Decatur, Ga., to use as part of a program to secure all of the state's interstate rest areas. The cameras are mounted on emergency call boxes at each of the 53 rest areas located along the interstate highway system in Illinois and provide multiple views of parking lots.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections (MDOC) has chosen biometric security software from SAFLINK, Bellevue, Wash., which will allow the MDOC to integrate biometrics into its identity management platform.

The Jurong Island chemical research and production center still under development in Singapore has selected distributed access control system from CEM Systems, Belfast, a unit of Tyco International's Fire and Security Division.

The North County Transit District (NCTD) in California's North San Diego County has added MobileView on-board CCTV systems from GE Interlogix's Kalatel Division, Corvallis, Ore., with the goal of cutting liability claims and assisting with cost recoveries.
