Synel Industries Ltd., a provider of data collection solutions, has selected biometric technology from Bioscrypt Inc., Toronto, for time and attendance systems installations in South American department stores. Using a fingerprint, the Bioscrypt MV1200 OEM module verifies an employee's identity and clocks them in and out in less than a second during the labor data collection process.
The North Orange County Community College District's Cypress College has chosen Eltron Card Printers (Camarillo, Calif.) for production of an ID card that serves as identification on campus, a check ID at the student bookstore, to enter laboratories and to check out books at the library.
Orthodontic Centers of America Inc. has completed development of a fingerprint-based time and attendance solution called Timeclock, which uses BioEngine fingerprint matching technology from Identix Inc., Minnetonka, Minn. The system interfaces with Identix BioTouch USB 200 readers. Orthodontic Centers of America is affiliated with 375 orthodontic and pediatric dental practices in the United States, Puerto Rico, Japan, Mexico and Spain.
A private library and museum at the New York Weill Cornell Medical Center allows access to its 12 members using hand geometry readers from IR Recognition Systems, Campbell, Calif., the biometric component of Ingersoll-Rand's (IR) Security & Safety Group's Electronic Access Control Division (EACD).
An ongoing problem with vandalism and broken windows prompted Fort Washington Forest Science, Math, and Technology Elementary School to implement donated security equipment from ISR Solutions, Chantilly, Va. The equipment includes video cameras to monitor the school grounds.
Terminal buildings at the Ted C. Connell Airport at Killeen, Texas, and the British Airways terminal at New York's JFK Airport have selected medium level blast resistant windows from CompuDyne Corp., Hanover, Md. The Otopeni International Airport in Bucharest, Romania, has chosen security systems from Magal Security Systems Ltd., Yahud, Israel, to protect its perimeters from unauthorized intrusions.
HMO Kaiser-Permanente in California has invested in cash handling systems from NKL Cash Handling, New Albany, Ind., for implementation at its medical facilities. The company chose the system based on the growing size of co-payments made in cash at physician practices. The system uses a biometrics entry solution for cash handling.
A United States Navy facility in San Diego has implemented an integrated security platform from VistaScape Technology Corp., Atlanta, that includes force protection, anti-terrorism and Homeland defense. Security sensors from strategic locations are implemented to help present complete situational awareness using a centralized command center.
Montreal's Concordia University has chosen a video solution from SmartSight Networks, Quebec, to create a video archive of the three-year construction project of a new engineering building.
The University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) has retrofitted classrooms in historic Haines Hall with a “Locknetics On Board” standalone electronic access control locking system from IR Security and Safety's Electronic Access Control Division (EACD), Forestville, Conn., featuring Schlage computer managed (CM) locks.
Workers at The Pentagon will receive training in the use of escape masks from Critical Incident Solutions, Bellevue, Ky. The training is scheduled for nearly 24,000 people.
