After building a name for itself in the security industry with bullet and dome style video cameras, and other surveillance-related products, Speco Technologies has opened in the access control market with the release of a family of single door access electronic keypads.

This comes at a pivotal time for Speco Technologies. The company completed a rebranding initiative three years ago to organize five company names into one, and the Speco Technologies brand has received tremendous acceptance.

“Our keypad product addition helps Speco better serve the small business market,” said Todd Keller, president. “We want to be the complete solution for the small business group.” Offering products in three categories - sound, surveillance and access control - enables the company to do that.

“This series of keypads can accommodate up to 130 different users and three independent relay outputs. These outputs enable the user, for instance, to turn the lights on in the building while unlocking the doors,” said Gary Perlin, vice president of Speco Technologies. “The new line is a good way for us to get our feet wet and allow people in the access control market to know who we are.”

In preparation for the new product line, growth of current product lines and customer service, the company recently completed an expansion of its corporate facility. This provided additional room for office space, product assembly, warehousing, technical repair and training.

Speco Technologies developed several CEU-credited courses (Digital Video Recorder Basic Training and 70 Volt Audio Basic Training) which were taken on the road across North America and taught at Speco's Long Island, NY headquarters. Enrollments and industry feedback were positive enough that the company invested in a new Educational Center as part of the new extension. The training facility gives industry members hands-on experience with Speco's products while learning about their features and applications.

“Education is the key to everyone's success in the industry,” commented T.J. Dickson, director of sales and marketing.

Speco Technologies plans to launch its second generation of access control keypads in 2007 along with other new products. The IP-based Triplex MPEG-4 DVR family has been successful in 2006. Special features include free DDNS for use with dynamic IP addresses, pre-alarm and post-alarm recording with EZ record and copy, and a three year warranty which covers the unit and hard drive. The line will expand to include faster frame rates per second (up to 480 fps) with massive storage capability and real time recording. An even more economical version is on the horizon. Watch out for other innovative bullet and dome cameras, commercial and residential surveillance and audio products coming soon.

Speco Technologies does not stop the customer relationship after products are sold.

Knowledgeable customer service people are in place to help customers who purchase Speco Technologies products. An extensive technical support group is available to assist with designing a system, installation and other professional advice.
