Top Counterfeiter Countries of 2007

THE UNITED STATES TRADE REPRESENTATIVE'S (USTR) 2007 Special 301 Report has named 12 countries to its Priority Watch List (PWL) of top counterfeiting countries in regard to intellectual property. The “Special 301” provisions of the Trade Act of 1974 requires the USTR each year to identify foreign countries that deny adequate and effective protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) or fair and equitable market access for U.S. entities that rely on intellectual property protection. “We must defend ideas, inventions and creativity from rip-off artists and thieves,” says U.S. Trade Representative Susan C.
