fas.org is the official site of the Federation of American Scientists, a nonprofit organization founded by members of the Manhattan Project in 1945. The site contains information about the FAS, “hot topics” covering several current news items and a global security section with links to a range of security-related resources.

Worth a click: Under FAS Initiatives click Arms Sales Monitoring. Go to Facts and Figures and search the U.S. Arms Transfers Database.

cns.miis.edu is the official site of the Center for Nonproliferation Studies. It contains five databases including current and archived information compiled from hundreds of source publications, material published by CNS.

Worth a click: Learning Resources: basic and advanced tutorials examining the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

wwisac.com, the Web site of the Information Sharing and Analysis Center, allows authorized participants to submit either anonymous or attributed reports about information on security threats, vulnerabilities, incidents and solutions.

tacda.org, the official site of the American Civil Defense Association, provides strategic civil defense, disaster preparedness and disaster mitigation solutions, and promotes reasonable disaster preparedness. The site includes the Journal of Civil Defense and information about the association.

storydata.com interactively explores six years of terrorist activity as tracked by U.S. Department of State, presented in the form of interactive charts and graphs.

Go to westlakesoftware.com/whsproject.htm to participate in a study of effectiveness of commercial wireless technology for Homeland security and disaster recovery. Participants will receive use of the software, wireless devices and airtime for two months, in exchange for completing a survey.

c3i.osd.mil/biometrics, the Web site of the Department of Defense Biometrics Management Office (BMO), offers biometrics industry news, current initiatives, case studies and guidance for defense agencies and services.
