The Diebold identiCenter, powered by US Biometrics, Naperville, Ill., provides identity theft protection that integrates fingerprint biometric technology with third-party teller software platforms to enable a financial institution to positively identify almost every customer that enters the branch. When a customer arrives at a bank to complete a financial transaction, a teller verifies his or her identity using an optical-scan fingerprint reader. Customers must enroll in the system by having three fingerprint images scanned. The images are then converted into algorithmic values and stored in an encrypted and compressed database.
