NoblePeak Night Vision Image Sensor
Dec 4, 2007 10:07 AM
The TriWave Imager from NoblePeak Vision Corp. uses a germanium-enhanced CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) single-chip image sensor to deliver clear, high-resolution images across the visible, near-infrared (NIR) and short-wave infrared (SWIR) spectrum. According to NoblePeak product developers, night vision sometimes is achieved through active illumination or by using specialized low-light cameras to intensify images created by stray light. The resulting images of objects and people may be unrecognizable in the frame. The TriWave imager can sense the large amounts of SWIR light that is emitted by the earth’s atmosphere at night and amplify that lighting to perform passive night vision, thus allowing users to capture visual images clearly in zero light, according to the company. The company’s TriWave camera cores will soon be available through leading camera manufacturer products. The technology is suited for commercial and law enforcement security, military and transportation applications. Visit noblepeak.com.
