SimonsVoss Biometric Transponder
Aug 16, 2007 9:35 AM
The BT1 Biometric Transponder from SimonsVoss Technologies is an RF-based transponder that replaces mechanical keys by requiring a fingerprint to unlock a door. It can store up to six authorized fingerprints. For authentication, users push the button and swipe a finger across the sensor. If the fingerprint read matches one of the authorized fingerprints, the transponder will unlock the door and activate a range of equipment that is pre-authorized by the system administrator. The unit can be programmed to provide different levels of access at different times of day. If the transponder is lost or stolen, it can be disabled and replaced without the expense of mechanical changes to a lock.
