The Security Standard conference brings together senior corporate, security and IT professionals to examine how to develop an effective security strategy that can advance overall business needs and goals of an organization. The second annual conference, which will be held Sept. 10-11, 2007, in Chicago at the Fairmont Hotel, will feature keynotes from Cisco Systems' executives and a Microsoft security executive.
A special Thought Leaders' Roundtable on Sept. 10 will feature Cisco's security pros discussing the changing threat landscape. The roundtable participants will include Cisco executives Richard Palmer, senior vice president of the security technology group; Jeff Platon, vice president and CMO of the security and application networking group; and Scott Weiss, co- founder and CEO of IronPort Systems.
On Sept. 11, Microsoft's Scott Charney, corporate vice president of the Trustworthy Computing Group, will participate in an onstage interview with event co-chair John Gallant to discuss Microsoft's efforts to provide a more secure and reliable online experience for customers, as well as its progress to help organizations address current security and privacy issues.
"In today's world of anywhere access, organizations need to be confident they can create and share information without fear that it will be compromised, stolen or exploited," says Charney. "This requires building trust that technology, policies and processes will protect both personal and organizational data. Success will require extensive cooperation between companies, governments and organizations worldwide."
Topics at the Security Standard conference will include:
* how the psychology of risk can warp security investments and strategies managing the unique challenges of open source security;
* understanding the business strategies surrounding network access control;
* contingency planning strategies for dealing with information loss;
* creating a strong culture of security in the MySpace era; and
* navigating the legal/regulatory landscape facing organizations today.
