The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced that Allen Fritts of Honeywell International Inc., will be the 2006 recipient of the George R. Lippert Memorial Award, the highest honor bestowed by the organization each year.
The award will be presented to Fritts on Oct. 24 at the Tri-Association Awards Dinner in New York.
Fritts has served on SIA's Board of Directors in various capacities over the years, including service as president. Among his most noteworthy contributions, Fritts was instrumental in building and strengthening SIA's role in the ISC Expo and Conference.
As president, Fritts focused his energies on growing the Association's industry groups, which, according to Sandy Jones, Sandra Jones and Associates, "led to more member participation, tangible benefits and invaluable networking."
The George R. Lippert Memorial Award was established in 1989 following the death of the respected industry leader. Nominations for the award are accepted each year from the SIA membership. Nominees must have demonstrated long-term service to SIA and to the industry at large.
Fritts will be the 17th recipient of The George R. Lippert Memorial Award.
Fritts is president of Honeywell Fire Systems, whose six business units combine to form the largest manufacturer of fire protection devices in the world. He started with the company's NOTIFIER subsidiary in 1987, ultimately leading it to be the largest fire alarm producer in North America.
A former U.S. Marine, Fritts is an active member and officer of the Durham (Conn.) Volunteer Fire Dept., and was recently named A Fire Dept. of New York Honorary Deputy Chief.
