A Workshop on Satisfying Anti-Terrorism Requirements Through Emerging Standards will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. Sponsored by ASTM Committee F12 on Security Systems and Equipment, the workshop will be held in conjunction with the Sept. 29–30 standards development meetings of the committee.
The workshop will include presentations on using Committee F12 standards to specify or design appropriate anti-terrorism features. The use of standards in testing and qualifying security products will be discussed, including design criteria using risk assessment, security tests for glazing and doors, crash test standards and access control. The intended audience is federal, state and local government engineers and architects involved in security design; engineers and architects providing security engineering and design for government or private industry; and manufacturers or vendors who provide security services or products.
The fee to attend the workshop for ASTM members and session chairs is $75 for online registration and $100 for on-site registration. The fee for non-ASTM members is $150 online and $175 on site. The fee is waived for presenters and students with a valid I.D.
Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the workshop and closes Sept. 24, 2008. For more information and to view the technical program, visit the ASTM Web site at www.astm.org/MEETINGS/COMMIT/f12wkshp1008.htm.
