ASIS International, an organization for security professionals worldwide, has announced that Tom Brokaw, a trusted and respected figure in broadcast journalism, and political consultants James Carville and Mary Matalin, will be keynote speakers at the ASIS International 54th Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2008), held in Atlanta, Sept. 15-18, 2008.

In December 2004, Tom Brokaw stepped down after 21 years as the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News. He continues to work with NBC, reporting and producing documentaries and providing expertise during breaking news events. Brokaw will give the keynote address on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 8 to 9 a.m.

Brokaw became a best-selling author in 1998 with the publication of "The Greatest Generation." His most recent book, "Boom -- Personal Reflections on the 60s and Today," was released in November 2007.

James Carville is one of America's best-known political consultants. He and wife Mary Matalin, former assistant to President George W. Bush and counselor to Vice President Dick Cheney, will speak on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 8 to 9 a.m.

Before joining the Bush/Cheney White House, Matalin hosted CNN's critically acclaimed debate show, Crossfire. She has made frequent television appearances as a political commentator and has written for many periodicals. She is coauthor (with her husband) of the best-selling political campaign book "All's Fair: Love, War and Running for President."

Carville, who was the chief campaign strategist for Clinton/Gore in 1992, has a long list of electoral successes that shows a knack for steering overlooked campaigns to unexpected landslide victories and for remaking political underdogs into upset winners. In addition to his political activities, he is an author, actor, producer, talk-show host and restaurateur. His next project is a book called "The Lost Generation," scheduled for release this spring or summer.

On Thursday, Sept. 18, best-selling author James Bradley will speak at the closing luncheon, noon to 2 p.m. Bradley burst onto the national scene as an author in 2000 with his book "Flags of Our Fathers." "Flags of Our Fathers," released as a movie in 2007, is about the six young men who raised the American flag on Iwo Jima. One of the men in the famous photograph of that event is Bradley's father, John Bradley.

ASIS 2008 will bring together more than 23,000 security, business and government professionals from more than 90 countries for the exchange of ideas and information, shared in educational settings, on the exhibit floor and during after-hours events.

This year's show will feature more than 280,000 net square feet of the latest security technology and innovations, providing a showcase for more than 950 companies demonstrating cutting-edge products and services that are shaping the security industry today.
