ASIS 2008 Conference Will Feature Expanded Education Program

ASIS International, an organization for security management professionals worldwide, is offering more than 175 educational sessions of interest to security practitioners of all levels at its 54th Annual Seminar and Exhibits. The event, to be held Sept. 15-18 in Atlanta, also will encompass the latest security technologies and innovations in the Georgia World Conference Center's exhibit halls.
ASIS 2008 offers a comprehensive educational and networking event for the security industry. All educational sessions have been peer-reviewed and selected from a field of entries in a highly competitive submission process. New topics include "What Hackers Don't Want You to Know;" "Campus Strategic Security Initiatives Emphasizing Early Warning, Early Notification and Layered Communications Systems;" "Pandemic Influenza Planning and Response;" and "The Business of Ethics in Today's Security."
Additional sessions include "Transforming the U.S. Government Security Clearance Process," "Implementing International Enterprise Security Solutions," "Security and Illegal Immigrants in the Workforce," "Successfully Selling Security to Executive Management" and "Options for Disaster Recovery Exercises."
Eighteen sessions will be offered in Spanish; an additional nine sessions will be simultaneously translated from English into Spanish.
Certification reviews, taught by experienced instructors and covering the major subject areas tested on the Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP) and Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) exams, will be held Sept. 12 and 13. The CPP, PSP and PCI exams will be offered in English for eligible international candidates residing outside the United States or Canada on Sunday, Sept. 14. A number of Pre-Seminar Intensives, optional educational programs on a range of subject matters, are scheduled prior to the opening of the Annual Seminar and Exhibits. Topics include "Public and Private Perspectives on Critical Infrastructure Protection," "Detecting Deception in Verbal and Written Statements," "Investigating Mortgage Fraud," "Business Acumen for Security Managers," "Understanding Guidelines: A Framework for Voluntary Preparedness" and "The Path to IP Video Manufacturer Certification for End Users." ASIS 2008 expects to bring together more than 23,000 security, business and government professionals from more than 90 countries.
