ASIS International Publishes New CPP Study Guide
Jul 29, 2008 2:44 PM
ASIS International, an organization for security professionals worldwide, has published the 13th edition of the “CPP Study Guide.” The authors are James R. Bomba, CPP, and Philip S. Deming, CPP.
All chapters in this edition of the “CPP Study Guide” have been updated to provide thorough coverage of the main concepts in eight subject areas included in the current CPP exam: emergency practices, investigations, personnel security, physical security, information security, security principles and practices, legal aspects and business principles and practices.
This resource will help CPP candidates evaluate their current knowledge and determine subjects that may require further study. The study guide can be used as a supplement to the CPP reference set and is another source for exam preparation. It should not be considered the sole source for preparation and does not contain actual questions from the exam.
Bomba is supervisor of facilities security at the Erie Insurance Group, in Erie, Pa. He is past chairman of the Lake Erie ASIS chapter, and has been an adjunct professor of the criminal justice departments of both Gannon University and Mercyhurst College, teaching introduction to security and security management courses. He is a regular presenter of security topics at various community programs. He is the current program advisor and a faculty member of the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) Review Program.
In 1982, Deming established Philip S. Deming and Associates, a consulting firm in King of Prussia, Pa., specializing in human resource and security risk management. He has consulted on security risk matters, developed asset protection programs and conducted internal investigations for various Fortune 100 companies as well as Internet commerce companies. Mr. Deming has lectured at Villanova University, St. Joseph’s University’s Criminal Justice Graduate Program, and professional security management seminars. He is the chairperson of the Civil Service Commission for the Township of Radnor, Pa.
The 314-page “CPP Study Guide” is available for $104 to ASIS members and $204 for non-members. It may be ordered by calling 412-741-1495 and requesting item # 1795, or online from the ASIS Store.
