Free security awareness materials for business and consumers are available for download from (ISC)2, a not-for-profit company in educating and certifying information security professionals. The materials are available on the new Cyber Exchange cyberexchange.isc2.org/, an online security awareness resource center launched in support of the fifth annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month in October.
The Cyber Exchange houses free security awareness tools from around the world, designed to be used by any organization or individual that wishes to promote online safety at work or within their community. It can also serve as a support tool for private and public sector organizations required to meet cyber security awareness training requirements under directives such as the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).
"As a global not-for-profit organization, it is (ISC)2's responsibility to not only develop information security professionals in all parts of the world, but also to promote best secure computing practices by everyone," says W. Hord Tipton, CISSP-ISSEP, CAP, CISA, executive director of (ISC)2. "The materials in the Cyber Exchange, provided by our certified experts, are designed to educate end-users and teach citizens how to better protect themselves."
(ISC)2 members are encouraged to upload materials in a variety of formats -- such as posters, flyers, brochures, presentations and games -- and those that address a variety of topics - including, but not limited to, networking security, identity theft, Internet privacy, disaster recovery, emerging security threats, mobile security, software development and secure Web site design.
Commemorated by the U.S. Congress, the goal of National Cyber Security Awareness Month is to heighten public awareness of the critical role each citizen plays in protecting information assets.
