GE Security Inc., a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of the General Electric Co., has announced its role in providing integrated security solutions to the Pan American Games Rio 2007.

As part of a comprehensive electronic security system for this year's Pan American Games, GE Security, along with its integrator, Rocha Bressan, created one of the event's largest camera networks -- 1,500 cameras installed in 64 venues -- to help ensure the safety and security of those involved in all aspects of the games. The cameras were used as part of GE Security's Video IP subsystem, which collected, distributed and managed images through an IP network for two global games security operation centers, including one principal and one "back up" center, as well as eight regional and 36 local games security centers.

GE Security also provided an access control subsystem, which was installed in 11 venues, connected by an IP network and managed in centralized locations within the global games security operation centers.

"GE Security is proud to have worked with the Brazilian government and to provide reliable security technologies for one of Latin America's most important sporting events," says Pedro Duarte, president of GE Security Latin America. "Our participation in this year's games underscored our commitment to providing integrated security solutions that streamline efficiencies while maintaining appropriate safety and comfort levels."
