What external events have had the greatest impact the information security plans of network administrators? According to a recent survey from Amplitude Research, 39 percent of administrators say customer, vendor or business partner requirements have had the greatest impact.
Legislative mandates, such as HIPAA, were cited by 23 percent, while Homeland security (10 percent) was a distant third.
The survey of 335 network administrators and managers also identified the top security management issues facing their companies. Respondents were asked to give their top three management issues. Here are some of the top results:
*Keeping virus definitions up to date (69 percent)
*Securing remote access (45 percent)
*Monitoring intrusions (36 percent)
*Password management (18 percent)
