With the demand of security solutions that go beyond serving as replacements for legacy VCR systems, managers of school surveillance systems are seeking new technology. To proactively address traffic safety issues, driver risk management and discouragement of school bus vandalism, theft and assault, ICOP Digital Inc., has released a school bus security camera system to be shown in the Sprint Business Solutions exhibit at the National Association for Pupil Transportation's (NAPT) 34th Annual Conference and Trade Show.
"We believe it is vital that new mobile video technology provide managers the ability to immediately and effectively respond to events while they are in progress, enhance bus driver training, promote driver compliance with safety laws and school regulations, and improve all aspects of school bus operations. With ICOP solutions, all of these objectives, and more, can be readily achieved," says Laura Owen, ICOP president and COO.
The new ICOP School Bus Security Camera System incorporates the ICOP Model 4000 (four or eight camera) mobile digital video recorder and controller to deliver high image quality, extended periods of recording and increased flexibility for onboard communication, sensor integration and networking. Onboard camera coverage provides surveillance for passenger cabin video and audio monitoring, recording of stop-arm violators and views of driver area and bus entrance. Increased camera capability also allows for windshield-mounted cameras that record activity in front of the bus, including student crossings, intersections and level (railroad) crossings.
"We have seen an increased demand for fully integrated push-to-talk, voice, high speed data and video services in the K-12 pupil transportation education market segment," says Ed Davalos, national director for Education Sales for Sprint. "The ICOP solution complements our existing suite of offerings."
