Bureaucratic delays and disagreements among agencies have made it hard to get decisions to deploy new technologies or to speed the flow of funds for new airport security initiatives, contend some aerospace and defense companies.
The Wall Street Journal reports that major defense and security contractors such as Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin and Honeywell have voiced complaints concerning these issues.
The executives cite poor communication among Federal agencies and a lack of clear-cut technical requirements as major obstacles to increasing airport security.
