The so-called "300-foot rule," requiring that no cars be parked within 300 feet of an airport, will be vacated as long as the terrorist threat level remains below orange or red, Transportation security Administration (TSA) chief James Loy announced Monday.

The rule was a part of Loy's list of "stupid rules" he planned to address concerning airport security. The 300-foot rule was imposed after Sept. 11 to protect airports from car bomb threats.
