The ASIS International 49th Annual Seminar and Exhibits, held in New Orleans Sept. 15-18, attracted a record 812 exhibitors -- up 12 percent from 2002. There were 218 first-time exhibitors. Overall attendance at the event was 17,264.
Aside from the show floor, highlights included addresses by Lt. General Harold G. Moore, USA (Ret.), author of the national bestseller, We Were Soldiers Once...And Young; and Richard Butler, former U.N. Chief Weapons Inspector, who spoke on such topics as the new geostrategic realities of the post-Iraq war and nuclear proliferation.
ASIS also presented 135 educational sessions, 40 of which were devoted to Homeland security.
ASIS has already sold 85 percent of next year's exhibit space, roughly 2,000 booths out of a total of 2,200. The 2004 Annual Seminar and Exhibits will be held at the Dallas Convention Center from Sept. 27-30.
