A bill has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives to establish a national center for homeland security at Texas A&M University, including $120 million in federal funding over five years.

"There is clearly a need for a nationally coordinated university-based activity to collect and disseminate information, focus on critical research and educational needs, and to provide resources for response and recovery," Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) told The Houston Chronicle.

If successful, the College Station, Texas, campus would serve as a template for other possible center and work with other institutions.
