The U.S. House has approved $99 million in security funding to bus operators in the U.S. The money is earmarked for building more secure garages, protecting drivers, inspecting baggage, screening passengers and hiring additional security officers.
House Transportation Committee chairman Don Young (R-Alaska) said more than 774 million passengers ride America's intercity bus routes and added that recent attacks on drivers further prompted the need for increased security.
